The statement said Kim Jong Un in his New Year Address for 2016 indicated the path to be covered by all Koreans in the north, the south and abroad to build a dignified and prosperous reunified country under the banner of By Our Nation Itself by thwarting all challenges and obstructions of the anti-reunification forces at home and abroad.

It continued:

The south Korean regime should respect and honestly implement the three principles of national reunification, the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration as they comprehensively reflect the general will of all Koreans and their validity was verified in practice.

The regime should remain true to the agreement made at the last year's north-south high-level urgent contact and refrain from going against it or chilling the atmosphere of dialogue.

We fully support the proposal for Korea's reunification clarified by Kim Jong Un in his New Year Address.
