Rodong Sinmun Accuses S. Korean Authorities of Their "Unification Diplomacy"

Pyongyang, January 13 (KCNA) -- In order to achieve national reunification at an early date it is necessary to reject interference by foreign forces and firmly adhere to the independent stand in the reunification issue. Rodong Sinmun says this in an article Wednesday. To inveigle outsiders into the issue of the internal affairs of the Korean nation would be little short of cooking one's own goose, the article notes, and goes on: National reunification is an independent cause to be achieved by the concerted efforts of the Koreans. The south Korean authorities' dependence on foreign forces and cooperation with them are a treacherous act of escalating confrontation between the north and the south as they disturb independent reunification and sell the national interests. Their "unification diplomacy" is a revelation of their sinister intention to deny the independent character of the national reunification and solve the issue of the reunification, the inner-Korean matter, by relying on outsiders. The said "diplomacy" would only grant outsiders the pretext to meet their interests by interfering in the internal affairs of the Korean nation. The south Korean authorities' cooperation with foreign forces is quite contrary to the reunification programme common to the nation. National independence is the core of the historic July 4 joint statement, June 15 joint declaration and October 4 declaration adopted by the north and the south. When the south Korean authorities reject outsiders and pool efforts with the fellow countrymen from the stand of prioritizing the nation, the north-south relations would develop remarkably, but when they stand in confrontation with the fellow countrymen by attaching importance to foreign forces and making cooperation with them, the inter-Korean relations can hardly escape tension and catastrophe. This is the lesson taught by history and reality |
