Former prime minister of Nepal Madav Kumar Nepal and Rachmawati Soekarnoputri, chairwoman of the Founding Committee of the Soekarno Foundation for Education in Indonesia, were elected honorary chairpersons of the preparatory committee.

Peter Woods, co-chairperson of the Asia-Pacific Regional Committee for Supporting Peaceful Reunification of Korea, Fumihiro Himori, chairman of the Japan Committee for Supporting the Independent and Peaceful Reunification of Korea, Rashed Khan Menon, chairman of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Bangladesh and the chairman of the National Party of Pakistan were elected co-chairmen of the preparatory committee.

The committee decided to let the whole world know the desire and will of the progressive people to accomplish the cause of global independence as wished by President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il through diverse activities for praising them in different countries of the region and introduce the reality of the DPRK achieving amazing progress under the Songun leadership of Marshal Kim Jong Un.
