Much Effort Directed to Education in DPRK
Pyongyang, January 25 (KCNA) -- It is gaining momentum in the DPRK to improve the condition and environment for education and upgrade it as required by the new century.

Primary efforts have been paid to improving the condition and environment for education.

As part of the efforts, it has been pushed forward to rebuild Pyongyang Primary School No. 4, Mirae Primary School and Haeun Senior Secondary School in Phyongchon District and Songyo Junior Secondary School in Songyo District as models.

A primary attention has also been directed to upgrading education.

The field of higher education continues putting teaching programs on a practical, comprehensive and modern basis, increasing the number of subjects, extending the application of computer in each technological subject and updating basic core technologies and advanced technologies in major subjects.

The successful introduction of the universal 12-year compulsory education makes it possible to direct big efforts to the education in fundamental science and technology and improve the experimental and practical education, thus helping schoolchildren deepen their knowledge.

Factory- and farm-colleges are striving to develop new teaching methods for enhancing the effectiveness of tele-education.

Meanwhile, preparations for setting up new technical senior secondary schools have steadily carried on.
