Agreement on Sexual Slavery Rejected by S. Korean Religious Organization

Pyongyang, January 25 (KCNA) -- The south Korean Council of Christian Churches issued a special declaration on Jan. 21 categorically rejecting the "agreement" on the issue of the sexual slavery for the imperial Japanese army. The declaration dismissed the "agreement" made by the south Korean and Japanese authorities on Dec. 28 last year as a politically motivated act of distorting history. It held that the "agreement" was an abnormal one as it lacked a written document and was contrary to international practice because it had such wording as "final and irreversible solution" and "refraining from criticizing and accusing each other in the international community". It demanded that Japan should be legally punished for the sexual slavery and make reparation and set right the distorted history. It noted that the Council of Christian Churches would join the World Council of Churches in positively participating in one hundred million-people signature campaign to be launched by the "national action for the nullification of the south Korea-Japan agreement on the comfort women for the Imperial Japanese Army and its just settlement." |
