According to vice-director of the specialized hospital Kim Yong Chol, the success in the operation on aortic dissection is of great significance in the nation's development of cardiovascular surgery.

Kim said:

A 59 year-old woman had an operation for acute aortic dissection.

The woman was in a critical situation due to total dissection from proximal ascending aorta to abdominal aorta which would have been led to aorta rupture.

After the successful operation, she got rid of aorta rupture and is progressing favorably.
