So said a statement issued at the inaugural ceremony of the Swiss preparatory committee for celebrating the birth anniversary of Kim Jong Il (the Day of the Shining Star) held on Jan. 21.

Kim Jong Il applied the Juche idea and Songun idea fathered by President Kim Il Sung to the revolution and construction and formulated the Songun politics as a fundamental political mode of socialist Korea, the statement added.

It went on:

Under his wise leadership, the DPRK emerged a nuclear weapons state and satellite manufacturer and launcher.

Kim Jong Il made great contributions to accomplishing the cause of the independent and peaceful reunification of Korea and conducted energetic activities for the people's happiness, regarding it as his motto to believe in the people as in Heaven.

We formed the preparatory committee for significantly celebrating the Day of the Shining Star, a holiday common to humankind, with boundless reverence for Kim Jong Il.

Present at the ceremony were figures and members of the Switzerland-Korea Committee and the Swiss Group for the Study of the Juche Idea.
