Indefinite General Strike Starts against Authorities' Guidelines for Retrogressive Revision of Labor Law
Pyongyang, January 27 (KCNA) -- The south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) launched an indefinite general strike for shattering the authorities' guidelines for retrogressive revision of the labor law on Jan. 25, according to the south Korean internet paper Voice of People.

Unionists of the Seoul, Kyonggi and Inchon headquarters of the KCTU held a rally for general strike outside the Seoul District Agency of Employment and Labor that day.

Speakers recalled that the "government" announced the "double guidelines" for making the layoff of workers easier.

The "government" announced the guidelines for retrogressive revision of the labor law despite the people's opposition, fully revealing their unpopular nature, they charged.

They called for making 2016 a year of workers' victory.

At the end of the rally its participants continued protest action.

That day the KCTU held rallies and press conferences across south Korea, centering on 16 regional headquarters, and declared an indefinite general strike.
