Pyongyang, February 7 (KCNA) -- Today marks the lapse of 68 years since the south Korean people's resistance against the moves of the U.S. and its lackeys to stage "separate elections and install separate government". Rodong Sinmun Sunday says in an article: The national salvation struggle waged on February 7, 1948 was an eruption of the people's bitter anger at foreign forces' moves for aggression and domination aimed at freeze the division of the Korean nation and colonize south Korea. It was, at the same time, a popular anti-U.S. struggle for building an independent and democratic reunified state. The article goes on: The resistance exerted great influence upon giving further momentum to the movement against the criminal "May 10 separate elections." Ceaseless struggles for independence and democracy against the U.S. and dictatorship were waged in south Korea but the ardent desire of the people for independence, democracy and reunification so much desired by the people did not come true due to the U.S. desperate policy of aggression towards to Korea and the fascist rule of the pro-U.S. conservative forces, subservient to it. The U.S. is the ferocious aggressor blocking the independent development and democracy in the south Korean society and throwing a stumbling block in the way of national reunification. The U.S. imperialists' brutal "military administration" ruthlessly trampled down the sovereignty and democratic rights of the south Korean people. The U.S. is the sworn enemy who divided the Korean nation and blocked the road of the uniform development and prosperity. The south Korean puppet forces are a group of unpardonable traitors as they have sold the dignity and interests of the nation through heinous sycophantic rule and policy of confrontation towards the fellow countrymen in the north and created great obstacles to the independent and peaceful reunification of the country, backed by the aggressor U.S. The south Korean people can never shake off the yoke of shameful colonial slavery and defuse the danger of a war on the Korean Peninsula as long as the sycophants and traitors are allowed to kowtow to the aggressor U.S. keeping its aggressor forces in south Korea, concludes the article. |
