Fairouz Mousa, director of the Higher Education Department of the Regional Leadership of the Baath Arab Socialist Party of Syria who doubles as chairman of the Syrian Arab-Korea Friendship Association, was elected chairman of the preparatory committee.

The committee decided to give wide publicity to the sacred revolutionary careers and undying feats of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il who made contributions to the accomplishment of the cause of human independence and the development of the friendly relations between the two countries and to organize colorful political and cultural events on the above-said occasions in 2017.
