Lunar New Year's Day Marked in DPRK

Pyongyang, February 8 (KCNA) -- All the service personnel and people of the DPRK greeted the Lunar New Year's Day with happiness and joys. A lot of people went to the plaza of the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, sacred temple of Juche where President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il lie in state. The visitors made bows before the portraits of smiling Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il. Service personnel, people from all walks of life and school youth and children visited the statues of the great leaders and mosaics depicting their smiling images on Mansu Hill and different places of the country to pay tribute to them. Multifarious art performances were given at the theatres in the capital and local areas. Schoolchildren across the country joyfully played folk games and sporting and amusement games. Competition of kite-flying and other colorful folk games took place at Kim Il Sung Square, the plaza of the Arch of Triumph and other places of Pyongyang to rev up the atmosphere of holiday. Public catering outlets in all parts of the country were crowded with people being served with holiday food. |
