DPRK-Japan Friendship Meeting Held in Tokyo
Tokyo, February 10 (KNS-KCNA) -- A DPRK-Japan friendship meeting took place in Tokyo on Feb. 9 to celebrate the birth anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il.

Present there were Fumihiro Himori, chairman of the Japan Committee for Supporting the Independent and Peaceful Reunification of Korea, Kenichi Ogami, secretary general of the International Institute of the Juche Idea, Seizaburo Ekuchi, representative of the Tokyo-Pyongyang Rainbow Bridge, Tokuji Yanagisawa, deputy chief director of the Japan-Korea Cultural Interchange Association, Kenki Nakamura, chairman of the Japan-Korea Society for Scientific and Educational Interchange, and other officials and masses of Japan.

Present there on invitation were Nam Sung U, vice-chairman of the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon), Kang Chu Ryon, vice-chairwoman of the Chongryon Central Standing Committee and chairwoman of the Central Standing Committee of the Korean Democratic Women's Union in Japan, and leading officials of organizations and enterprises of Chongryon.

There was a report on the successful launch of DPRK's earth observation satellite Kwangmyongsong-4 at the meeting to be followed by speeches.

Speakers vowed to more dynamically struggle against the Japanese authorities' suppression of Chongryon and Koreans in Japan.

The successful satellite launch is a very great deed for the Korean people and an event of historic significance for the nation, they said, adding they would make positive efforts to achieve genuine peace in the Korean Peninsula and establish good neighborly and friendly relations between the DPRK and Japan.

The DPRK is doing everything for peace, they said, noting that they would further strengthen friendship and solidarity with the peoples of the two countries with unshakable faith this year.
