National Pencil Drawing Festival in DPRK

Pyongyang, February 13 (KCNA) -- The 6th National Pencil Drawing Festival is going on at the Pyongyang International House of Culture to mark the Day of the Shining Star, the birth anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il (Feb. 16). Presented to the festival are 360-odd works drawn by fine artists and working adults, school youth and children. Ri Kyong Rim, an official of the Ministry of Culture, told KCNA: Actuality and popularity are characteristics of those works. The draftspersons creatively applied in their drawings various kinds of techniques to raise the formative artistic quality. The works deal with a wide range of social life such themes as artistic representation of the leader, the greatness of the Workers' Party of Korea, revolutionary traditions, class education, building of socialism and army-people unity. Nowadays, the pencil drawing is getting popular among people of all walks of life in the country for the simplicity of material and the quickness of creation. |
