Joint National Meeting of KCU Organizations Held

Pyongyang, February 16 (KCNA) -- A joint national meeting of the Korean Children's Union organizations (KCU) took place here on Tuesday, the 74th birth anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il. Present there were representatives of KCU organizations in provinces, schoolchildren here and those joining the KCU. Present there on invitation were Choe Thae Bok, Yang Hyong Sop, Kim Su Gil, chief secretary of the Pyongyang City Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and officials of the youth league, war veterans and persons of merit. Jon Yong Nam, chairman of the Central Committee of the youth league, made a report. The reporter said that February 16 is the auspicious day that provided the Korean people and school youth and children with the fortune of being blessed with illustrious leaders, and also a revolutionary holiday common to mankind which opened the bright road of realizing the cause of human independence. Kim Jong Il brought up the members of the KCU into reliable successors of the revolutionary cause of Juche with his loving care for the younger generations and the future throughout the whole period of his revolutionary leadership, the reporter noted. He called upon all the members of the KCU to greet this year glorifying the 70th anniversary of the KCU with proud successes in acquiring knowledge, a good moral character and good health under the leadership of Marshal Kim Jong Un. Then followed a new-member admission ceremony of the KCU. Led by Choe Thae Bok, secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, the newcomers took an oath. Officials, war veterans and meritorious persons tied red neckerchiefs around the necks of those newcomers and pinned KCU's badges on their chests. The newcomers made the first greetings of the KCU members, responding to the slogan "Always Be Ready for Socialist Country!" Ji Yong Chun, lecturer of the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum, Pang Sung Son, principal of Pyongyang Secondary School No. 1, and Ri Se Gwang, gymnastic player of the April 25 Sports Team, made congratulatory speeches. They asked all of the newcomers to grow up to be reliable successors of the Songun revolution faithful to Marshal Kim Jong Un. |
