Steps Taken in DPRK to Prevent Zika Virus
Pyongyang, February 19 (KCNA) -- A campaign has been launched in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to prevent the infection of Zika virus, which is now rapidly spreading through the world.

According to Hong Sun Gwang, vice-president of the State Sanitary Inspection Board under the Ministry of Public Health, the Zika virus is generally transmitted to humans by infected mosquitoes and it is dangerous especially to pregnant women.

Steps are taken to give citizens the knowledge about Zika virus and prevent the inroads of it into the country.

Quarantine stations in border areas began a strict inspection of travelers and cargos from the infected areas. And health workers are conducting the intensive hygienic information service related to the cause and process of Zika virus infection and its danger and preventive measure among citizens, pregnant women in particular.
