Tokyo, February 24 (KNS-KCNA) -- Members of the Confederation of South Koreans in Japan for Democracy and Reunification, the south Korean Youth League in Japan, the south Korean Democratic Women's Society and the south Korean Students Consultative Council in Japan staged a protest action in front of the U.S. embassy in Tokyo on February 22 urging cancellation of the plan for the U.S.-south Korea joint military exercises and the conclusion of a peace treaty. It was joined by members of the National Network of the Japan-South Korea People's Solidarity. Representatives of the Confederation of South Koreans in Japan for Democracy and Reunification and the National Network of the Japan-South Korea People's Solidarity separately thrust their written requests to the U.S. embassy. The Confederation of South Koreans in Japan for Democracy and Reunification said in the written request that the above-said joint military exercises are fraught with the danger of a nuclear war, adding that dialogue between the DPRK and the U.S. is the only way of settling the present situation and opting for improved relations. The National Network of the Japan-South Korea People's Solidarity said in its written request that it is opposed to the U.S.-south Korea military alliance for peace in East Asia and demands the conclusion of the DPRK-U.S. peace treaty. |
