They were sponsored by the Slovenian and Hungarian preparatory committees for celebrating the Day of the Sun (the birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung) and the Day of the Shining Star, the Serbian preparatory committee for celebrating the Day of the Shining Star, the Guinean Kimilsungia Greenhouse, a Guinean company and an Angolan hospital.

The chairperson of the Serbian preparatory committee for celebrating the Day of the Shining Star said Kim Jong Il was a great statesman, distinguished thinker and theoretician and outstanding strategist who made immortal contribution to the global cause of socialism.

Noting that Kim Jong Il was the teacher of all progressive peoples and political parties aspiring after socialism, the chairperson went on:
