The participants laid a floral basket and bouquets before the statues of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il in Chongjin City, North Hamgyong Province and paid tribute to them.

Present at the meeting were the captain and crewmen of the Kiribati-flagged ship New Global.

Speakers said that Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il set forth the fair reunification proposals meeting the will and demand of all Koreans and performed immortal feats in the cause of the country's reunification.

Kim Jong Un said in his New Year Address that the DPRK will have an open-minded discussion on the reunification issue, one of the national issues, with anyone who is desirous of national reconciliation and unity, peace and reunification, they noted, adding:

The U.S. and its followers are persistently checking Korea's reunification and staging war drills, escalating tensions.

Kim Jong Un repelled every challenge of the hostile forces and put the DPRK on the status of a full-fledged nuclear power and space power.

A letter to Kim Jong Un was adopted at the meeting.
