President Kim Il Sung set forth a slogan "Land to the Tillers!" based on the practical experience gained in the flames of the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle and promulgated the "Law on Agrarian Reform in North Korea" which was worked out by himself on March 5, Juche 35 (1946) on the basis of the preparations for enforcing the agrarian reform.

The promulgation serves as a historical event as it hewed out a new brilliant history of solving the issues of peasants and agriculture in Korea.

The law is a Juche-based land revolutionary programme that realized a long-cherished desire of the Korean peasants to become genuine masters of land, and a land code as it settled for good and all the feudal relations of land ownership deeply rooted in the rural areas of Korea and opened a way of uninterrupted revolution toward socialism.

A national meeting to mark the 70th anniversary of the promulgation of the law took place at the Central Youth Hall on Friday.

Present there were Pak Pong Ju, Yang Hyong Sop, Kwak Pom Gi, Ro Tu Chol and the vice-premier and concurrently minister of Agriculture, the chairman of the C.C., the Union of Agricultural Workers of Korea, officials of ministries and national institutions, those of party, power and agricultural guidance organs in the city and agricultural workers.

A report was made by Pak Pong Ju, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and premier of the DPRK Cabinet.

He said that the history of 70 years from the effectuation of the agrarian reform shines as proud chronicle in which the revolutionary change and advance unprecedented in the national history were made in the socialist rural areas in the DPRK under the wise leadership of the party and the leaders.

He noted that the exploits performed by Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il in opening a new history of change in socialist rural construction and providing the eternal foundation for the Juche-oriented agricultural development would shine forever along with the history of building a thriving nation.

He called upon the officials and workers in the agricultural field to certainly attain the grain production goal set forth by the Party this year by carrying forward the fighting spirit and trait of patriotic farmers of the preceding generations.
