70th Anniversary of Agrarian Reform Law Enforcement in DPRK
Pyongyang, March 5 (KCNA) -- Seventy years has passed since the Agrarian Reform Law was promulgated in Korea on March 5, Juche 35 (1946).

The promulgation of the law was a historic event in the country as this gratified the cherished desire of its peasants to own their land.

At the time of Korea's liberation from Japan's colonial rule, the country's population was mostly made up of peasants, who had long desired to do farm in their own land.

So, to properly settle the agrarian problem was of great importance in rescuing the peasants from century-old backwardness and poverty and building a democratic, new Korea.

That's why President Kim Il Sung chose the agrarian reform as the first affair for democratic reforms in the liberated country after the foundation of the Party and the establishment of the Provisional People's Committee of North Korea.

After acquainting himself in detail with the countryside situation and the desire of landless peasants, he made it sure that the Agrarian Reform Law was adopted and promulgated.

Now the agricultural workers in the DPRK recall those days with deep emotion, hardening their will to contribute to the country's prosperity by bringing bumper crops under the guidance of supreme leader Kim Jong Un.
