The February issue of the German newspaper Rote Fahne carried an article titled "Ushering in new era of independent reunification" illustrated with a portrait of smiling Kim Jong Il.

It introduced in detail the indefatigable efforts made by him by wisely leading the work to glorify for all ages President Kim Il Sung's exploits for national reunification by making sure that a monument inscribed with the autograph the President signed on a document related to national reunification during the last period of his life was erected at Panmunjom, symbol of national division.

Kim Jong Il published famous works such as "Let Us Carry Out the Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung's Instructions for National Reunification" and "Let Us Reunify the Country Independently and Peacefully through the Great Unity of the Entire Nation" to indicate the bright future of Korea's reunification, it said, adding:

He is always remembered by the Korean people and progressives as a peerless patriot as he defended the destiny of the country and nation and opened a turning phase for Korea's reunification with his original Songun politics.

The Indian newspaper Indian and World Event on February 11 devoted two pages to the articles titled "Chairman of National Defence Commission Kim Jong Il and Korea today", "Songun brilliant commander and socialist Korea", accompanied with his photos.
