The national chairman of the People's Progressive Party of Nigeria was elected chairman of the preparatory committee.

The committee decided to organize colorful political and cultural events praising the revolutionary careers and feats of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il and the wise leadership of Marshal Kim Jong Un who is successfully steering the building of a thriving nation on the occasion of the Day of the Sun and the Day of the Shining Star (birth anniversaries of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il) in 2017.
