War in Korea Would Bring Japan Not Windfall but Disaster: Rodong Sinmun
|

Pyongyang, March 10 (KCNA) -- The Japanese ambassador to the U.S., finding fault with the DPRK's proposal for concluding the DPRK-U.S. peace treaty recently, said that start of negotiations on it is not a right policy and would be meaningless. Rodong Sinmun Thursday observes in a commentary in this regard: The conclusion of the peace treaty is not an issue which allows interference by Japan, the U.S.'s henchman, but it is a matter to be solved between the DPRK and the U.S. from every aspect. Japan asserts that there should be no negotiations over the conclusion of a peace treaty. This is little short of calling for a war on the Korean peninsula. Japan is anxiously waiting for the situation on the peninsula to lead to the brink of a war through an unending vicious cycle of tension and showdown and spark off a war in the end. During the past Korean war Japan offered its territory as logistic and maintenance bases for the U.S. to get windfall and achieve economic "prosperity". It is now seized with the same wild ambition. But it is seriously mistaken. In case a war breaks out on the peninsula, every facility in Japan to be used for the war, to say nothing of the U.S. military bases in it, will be reduced to ashes in a moment. A war on the peninsula would bring Japan a horrible disaster instead of windfall. |
