Pyongyang, March 12 (KCNA) -- The number of young forerunners in virtue is on the increase in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. More than 50 youths in North Hamgyong Province of the country have risked their lives to display the spirit of devotedly defending the leader, until now from last June. Ten young men and women of the Phangyo County People's Hospital and 620 students of Phyongsong University of Medicine donated their skin to a worker and a peasant, who got whole-body burns from sudden accidents in October last and January this year. A young man of the Usan Co-op Farm in Sinchon County, South Hwanghae Province, unhesitatingly jumped into an icy river to rescue a woman early in January. At least 28,000 youths and students in Nampho City turned out to tend war veterans and disabled soldiers as their own flesh and blood. Many young people volunteered to work at the country's major projects, such as Paektusan Hero Youth Power Station, the Sepho Tableland Stockbreeding Base and the waterway project in South Hwanghae Province. More than 1,100 youths in Pyongyang City had been active as members of the night volunteers' group to help finish the construction of the Youth Movement Museum, Sci-Tech Complex and Mirae Scientists Street. School youth and children in Nampho City provided through a do-good-thing movement four tractors to assist the peasants in January. Meanwhile, those at industrial establishments across the country carried out their yearly production assignments until October last year. |
