Saying that the UN Security Council's "resolution on sanctions" against the DPRK is only escalating tension on the Korean Peninsula, the statement stressed that the U.S. increasing nuclear threat compelled the DPRK to have access to nuclear weapons.

Therefore, the DPRK's accession to the nuclear weapons is a due product of the U.S. hostile policy toward the former, the statement added.

Noting that the only key to the solution of the issue of the Korean peninsula is to hold negotiations without any precondition, it urged the U.S. to opt for concluding a peace treaty with the DPRK.
