Sexual Slavery for Imperial Japanese Army Can Never Be Denied: Rodong Sinmun

Pyongyang, March 20 (KCNA) -- When the UN high commissioner for Human Rights referred to the surviving victims of the sexual slavery for the Imperial Japanese Army as survivors of the sexual slavery when making an annual report, the Japanese representative refuted his assertion by saying that "the sexual slavery is contrary to the fact". When the high commissioner said the "agreement" on sexual slavery reached at the end of last year between Japan and south Korea sparked criticism among former sexual slaves, the Japanese representative replied that "'the agreement' meant the final and irreversible solution". The next day the Japanese chief Cabinet secretary at a press conference grumbled that the suspicion about "agreement" on sexual slavery between Japan and south Korea raised by the UN high commissioner was quite different from what the international community thought and it was greatly regrettable. Commenting on this, Rodong Sinmun Sunday says that the ulterior motive of Japan is to prevent the issue of sexual slavery from being taken up for discussion on the international arena at any cost and push under the carpet the hideous past crimes. No matter what rhetoric Japan may use, it can never cover up the thrice-cursed crimes it committed by enforcing state-sponsored sexual slavery, abducting 200,000 Korean women and ruthlessly violating their chastity, dignity and rights. The commentary urges Japan to make proper apology and sincere reparation for its past crimes as soon as possible, not working hard to deny and distort them. |
