World Water Day Observed in DPRK
Pyongyang, March 23 (KCNA) -- A briefing on Red Cross activities for hygienic water took place at Jangson Senior Secondary School in Unsan County, South Phyongan Province on Tuesday to observe the World Water Day.

Present at the event were officials of the DPRK Red Cross Society and the Ministry of Urban Management, other officials concerned and members of the delegations of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and the International Committee of the Red Cross working in the DPRK, and the chairman of the Italian Red Cross Society and his party.

Speakers recalled that various countries are paying primary attention to preventing water pollution and saving precious water resources in order to tackle ever-serious water shortage.

The participants played sports amusement games with young RC volunteers and watched an art performance given by schoolchildren's hygienic information disseminating team.

Earlier, they looked round water supply and drainage facilities built with the aid of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, chatting about the successes made by the Korean people in the work for preserving water resources.

A launching ceremony of water supply facilities took place in Hwangju County, North Hwanghae Province on the same day.
