DPRK Responds to Enemies' War Drills with Construction

Pyongyang, March 23 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Un, supreme leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, recently declared the start of building Ryomyong Street in the capital city of Pyongyang, a manifestation of the DPRK's will to answer the nuclear war drills of the U.S. imperialists and their followers with vigorous economic construction. The construction of Ryomyong Street is a huge project as it is to be built in an area between the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun and Ryonghung Crossroads. As a matter of fact, the past history of socialist construction in the DPRK were the days when its people had worked admirable feats and miracles in production and construction under the guidance of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il in face of the enemies' vicious sanctions and aggression moves. In the 1960s and 1970s when the situation of the Korean Peninsula was inching close to the brink of a war due to the case of U.S. armed spy ship Pueblo and the Panmunjom incident, the great leaders of the DPRK showed the strong will that socialist construction should be continued until midnight today even if a war may break out tomorrow. In 1994 when the enemies asserted that the DPRK's collapse was a matter of time, Kim Jong Il issued an order of the supreme commander of the Korean People's Army to build Chongryu Bridge (second stage) and Kumrung Tunnel No. 2 in Pyongyang. Such edifices as Chollima Street, Unha Scientists Street and Wisong Scientists Dwelling District in the DPRK are results of the boldness and guts of the great leaders, peerlessly brilliant commanders. Ryomyong Street, to be built within this year under the far-reaching plan of supreme leader Kim Jong Un, will serve as a monument of historic significance as it is a declaration of death to the enemy and the victory to the Korean people. |
