S. Korean Organization Discloses Environmental Degradation by U.S. Army

Pyongyang, March 24 (KCNA) -- The Green Federation, a south Korean environmental organization, on March 21 opened to the public a survey report on the serious environmental degradation in the U.S. military base in Ryongsan, Seoul.

According to the south Korean newspaper Kyunghyang Daily News, the survey results of the ground water in 19 places around the military base last year showed the pollution density by oil far surpassing the tolerance limits in 11 places.

The efficiency of the purification work can not but be low around the base as there are no removal of the pollution reasons and no disclosure of the process by which pollution takes place in the base, the federation deplored.
