The battle site played the role of a regional leadership base and a vantage point for military operations in the western area of Korea as a secret guerilla base in Anju area during the anti-Japanese armed struggle. It is associated with the exploits President Kim Il Sung performed by accomplishing the historic cause of national liberation and the indomitable fighting spirit of the Korean people who ushered in the new era of the national liberation struggle in colonies.

There are in the site such slogans written on barked trees as "Don't abandon revolutionary faith though one may die", a spring and others used by service personnel of small units of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army.
