S. Korean Body Demands Stop to Military Cooperation with Japan
Pyongyang, April 1 (KCNA) -- The People for Achieving Peace and Reunification of south Korea held a press conference outside the Defense Ministry on March 30 in demand of a stop to military cooperation with Japan.

The body recalled that the Japan's Navy "Self-Defense Force" chief of Staff visited south Korea to have talks with Navy Chief of Staff of south Korea on March 28. It said his goal was to boost up military cooperation including sharing information about north Korean missiles and staging joint military drills with south Korea.

The body expressed concern that it would pave the way for Japan to stage a comeback to the Korean peninsula and make a preemptive attack on the north and help build a triangular missile defense system including the U.S. and form a military alliance, thereby escalating the military confrontation in Northeast Asia and making south Korea dependent on Japan militarily. The new Cold War structure to be built in Northeast Asia would surely delay peace and reunification of the Korean peninsula, the body said, and went on:

It noted that the south Korean authorities desperately try to bring in Japan which had invaded and ruled Korea as part of the moves to pressurize the north by force of arms.

It urged the authorities to stop tightening the military nexus with Japan and halt their involvement in the building of the triangular missile defense system and military nexus.
