Halt to Discrimination against Korean Schools in Japan Demanded
Tokyo, April 2 (KNS-KCNA) -- Director generals of Korean schools in Japan, representatives of the Council of Principals of Korean High Schools and the Liaison Council of Societies of Mothers for Korean Schools and students of Tokyo Korean Secondary and High School held a press conference in Tokyo on March 30 to denounce the unreasonable discrimination policy of the Japanese government against Korean schools in Japan.

A joint statement was read out at the press conference.

It said that the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan on March 29 sent local autonomous bodies a notice calling for "sufficient examination" of payment of subsidies to Korean schools and "proper and transparent execution pursuant to purport and aim of subsidies", taking issue with the Korean schools in Japan which have nothing to do with diplomacy and security issues.

It termed this a very politically-motivated and discriminative step.

It demanded the ministry roll back its unreasonable notice and stop at once the discriminative step against Korean schools.
