General Strike Launched in S. Korea

Pyongyang, April 4 (KCNA) -- The Seoul branch of the educational public service headquarters of the Public Transport Trade Union under the south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions launched a general strike on April 1 demanding the abolition of the discrimination against part-time jobs, according to the south Korean newspaper Nodong and Segye.

A rally on the general strike took place outside the Seoul City Education Agency.

Speakers said that part-time workers of schools are working under the poorest condition, receiving the minimum wages and feeling uneasiness of employment.

They demanded the city education agency hold negotiations with detailed proposal and take a measure for improving the treatment for part-time workers.

At the end of the rally the participants staged a demo.
