S. Korean Authorities Accused of Pressing Brigandish Demand

| Pyongyang, April 9 (KCNA) -- Jong Uk Sik, representative of the Peace Network, a civic organization of south Korea, contributed an article to a newspaper on April 6, condemning the puppet regime for clamping down on inhabitants in Kangjong village, Sogwipho City, Jeju Province. He said in an article that the south Korean authorities submitted a compensation bill of 3.45 billion won to the inhabitants in the village, peace activists and civic organizations that turned out in the action against the construction of the Jeju naval base. He recalled that the navy on March 28 brought a compensation suit against those opposed to the Jeju naval base project following its postponement. He accused the "government" of hurting and threatening people even though it is obliged to protect their lives and properties. |
