Japanese Authorities' Discrimination against Korean Schools Denounced
Pyongyang, April 13 (KCNA) -- Protest actions against the Japanese authorities' despicable discrimination against Koreans are mounting in Japan as they stage the farce of examining the issue of tuition-free program for Korean schools in Japan.

The Liaison Society against the exclusion of Korean schools from the list of tuition-free program for senior high schools, a Japanese civic organization, on April 11 sent protest letters to governors of prefectures of Japan.

The written protests chided the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan for sending all self-governing bodies on March 29 notices demanding "sufficient examination" of subsidies to Korean schools and "proper and transparent application of them according to their purposes".

The ministry's measure is ambiguous in its legal ground and may cause such discrimination against Korean schools as reduction of subsidies or their abolishment, it said, adding:

Such action as ignoring the historical background against which Korean schools were established and depriving Korean children of the right to receive education can never be tolerated.
