Present there were figures of the Russian preparatory committee for celebrating the Day of the Sun, the Russian Association for Friendship and Cultural Cooperation with the DPRK, the Russian Foreign Ministry, the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Association of International Peace Fund, the Moscow Peace Fund and the Russian Group for Solidarity with the DPRK and masses.

Present there on invitation were a staff member of the DPRK embassy in Moscow and others.

Petrov, chairman of the Russian Association for Friendship and Cultural Cooperation with the DPRK who doubles as chairman of the Russian preparatory committee, said in a speech:

We celebrate with splendor the Day of the Sun, the birth anniversary of the great Comrade Kim Il Sung, in beautiful spring every year.

He is the great leader of the Korean people as he was born in the most revolutionary and patriotic family and led the Korean revolution to victory for a long period.

I still cannot forget the Korean people who had deeply grieved over the great loss of him.

He was the closest friend of Russia, distinguished leader, great man and elder statesman of the world as he gave the origin of the Russia-DPRK friendship.

Vanin, senior researcher of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, noted that the history of the DPRK in the 20th century is the one of the great career of Kim Il Sung, eternal leader of the Korean people and outstanding leader of the international working class movement and national liberation movement.

A congratulatory message to Marshal Kim Jong Un was adopted at the meeting.
