Pyongyang, April 18 (KCNA) -- Bulgarian newspaper Duma on April 4 carried articles introducing the DPRK under the headline "Land of morning calm" illustrated with the panoramic pictures of Mirae Scientists Street, the Sci-Tech Complex, Changjon Street and other monumental buildings. Korea with time-honored history spanning 5 000 years was divided into the north and the south by outsiders after the Second World War and the DPRK people won a brilliant victory in the Fatherland Liberation War ignited by the U.S. imperialists, it said, and went on: The diligent, strong-willed and peace-loving Korean people have built an industrialized socialist state on the ruins of the war under the wise leadership of President Kim Il Sung. Popular policies such as free education system and free medical care system are being enforced in the DPRK. The people of the DPRK have made great achievements in all fabrics of society. Many monumental edifices have been built in Pyongyang, capital of the DPRK, under the wise guidance of the President and leader Kim Jong Il and all the conditions are provided for the people to lead a civilized life under socialism. Dozens of years have passed since the ceasefire on the Korean peninsula but durable peace has not yet been ensured. Danger of unpredictable crisis is increasing on the peninsula due to the U.S. and south Korea's ceaseless military provocations. This indicates that the existing truce can not guarantee the peace on the peninsula. The DPRK advanced proposals of replacing the armistice agreement with a peace treaty to establish durable peace mechanism on the peninsula on several occasions. The people of the DPRK desire after the independent and peaceful reunification of the country. |
