The mayor of the city in a speech at the meeting said the city government and citizens extend support and solidarity to the Korean people who are working eye-opening miracles in the building of a thriving nation while creditably protecting the sovereignty of the country and socialism from the unheard-of sanctions imposed by the imperialist allied forces to stifle it under the outstanding leadership of Marshal Kim Jong Un.

Osvaldo Larriva Alvarado, chairman of the Ecuadorian Committee for Remembering Generalissimo Kim Jong Il and chairman of the Cuenca Branch of the Ecuadorian Committee for Supporting Korea's Independent and Peaceful Reunification, said the Korean people's confrontation with the U.S. is a just showdown to root out the source of war on the Korean peninsula, set up mechanism for ensuring solid peace and defend the independence of all progressive peoples in the world.

Trotsky Serano, president of the Canar Provincial Institute for the Friendship and Solidarity with the DPRK of Ecuador, said:

The U.S. and its followers should not act rashly, well aware of the indomitable faith and will of the Korean people who have turned out as one in the final battle for safeguarding the sovereignty of the country and right to existence.

We vehemently denounce the U.S. war moves against the DPRK on behalf of all peoples of the world struggling for independence.
