He volunteered to rescue more than 20 children at the time of the ferry sinking. He staged protest actions several times against the Park Geun Hye group which was sidestepping the probe into the truth about the disaster without saying any word of apology, while pretending to rescue drowning children and misleading the public opinion.

On the day, too, he condemned the authorities for their unethical action and strongly urged them to probe the truth behind the disaster at an early date.
