Japanese Authorities Denounced for Discriminating against Korean Schools
Tokyo, April 21 (KNS-KCNA) -- There took place a meeting at the Japanese education hall in Tokyo on April 20 in denunciation of the Japanese authorities' discrimination against Korean schools. It was co-sponsored by all Korean schools and the mothers' society of Koreans schools in Kanto area, the students committees of Korean middle and high schools in Tokyo and Kanagawa and the liaison society of Korean high school graduates.

Present at the meeting were officials of the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) and its organizations, officials under the Chongryon headquarters and parents of students in Kanto area and students of Korean University and Korean high school.

Sin Kil Ung, principal of Korean Middle and High School in Tokyo, made a report at the meeting.

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan on March 29 sent notices to governors of prefectures where Korean schools are situated, the reporter said, adding this is an extreme political discriminating measure against Korean schools and their students.

The UN Committee on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination strongly demanded the Japanese government and the above-said ministry lift the discriminating measure at once, the reporter noted.

Speakers renewed the will to decisively shatter the Japanese authorities' moves for obliterating national education and protect Korean schools.

The participants heard a lawyer's explanation about the injustice of the notice of the ministry.

Japanese personages made solidarity speeches.

Prior to the meeting, students of Korean University, officials of Chongryon and parents of students in Kanto area, students of Korean high school and members of Japanese solidarity organizations staged a protest action outside the ministry.
