U.S.-South Korea Joint Military Drills Staged in S. Korea

Pyongyang, April 22 (KCNA) -- A military drill to "cope with the provocation of a local war" was staged from April 18 to 20 on the Thaean peninsula, south Korea under the supervision of the Operation Command No. 2 of the puppet Army, according to Yonhap News and KBS of south Korea. It was reported to be the largest-ever rehearsal for coping with "a local war" as it involved thousands of troops belonging to 27 units of ground, naval and air forces, 19 helicopters, more than 350 vehicles, reconnaissance planes, patrol planes and patrol craft. The U.S. and south Korean air forces started the Max Thunder from April 15. More than 90 jets including FA-18, F-15K and KF-16 were busy with day and night drills under the simulated conditions of striking areas of the north. |
