According to an official of the Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports, new records were made in shooting, archery and weightlifting events.

Shooters from the Defense Sports Team of the Korean People's Army set a new record in the men's team 10 meter running target event with 1 738 points (the world record set in the 48th World Shooting Championship stands at 1 733 points and domestic record in the 2014 DPRK Championships 1 731 points).

They also renewed the domestic record, which was made at the Sports Contest for Pochonbo Torch Prize two years ago, in the men's team 10 meter running mixed event.

Domestic records were also bettered in the men's individual 70-meter archery and men's 85kg and 94kg categories of weightlifting.

Meanwhile, the first round of the premier football league for the Mangyongdae Prize Sports Games came to a close on Thursday, in which April 25 Sport Team and Pyongyang Sport Team took the first place in the men's and women's events respectively.
