The statement said that the ultra-right reactionary forces of Japan deliberately set afloat rumor and fostered bitterness toward the Koreans with the recent great quake in Kumamoto, Kyushu, Japan as an occasion. This anachronistic act of fostering confrontation deserves condemnation, it noted.

It urged the Japanese government to ferret out those who spread the rumor and those who manipulated it behind the stage and apologize to the Koreans in Japan at once. It went on:

The Japanese government is resorting to provocative remarks and acts, far from uttering even a single word of apology for the crimes committed by Japan through history.

The Japanese government should immediately stop the campaign to persecute the Koreans in Japan and the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan by stirring up hostility toward the Koreans with the recent great quake as an occasion.
