U.S. Is Chiefly to Blame for Nuclear Arms Race in 21st Century: KCNA Commentary
Pyongyang, April 28 (KCNA) -- In recent days, U.S. media and military experts asserted that owing to the Obama administration's frantic modernization of nuclear weapons, there is imbalance among nuclear forces of big powers and a fresh Cold War is in the offing.

This is the right claim because it reflects the hard fact that the nuclear arms race of the 21st century, a fresh Cold War arousing the deep concern of the world, has already started and the U.S. is chiefly to blame for it.

The U.S. emerged the "world's only superpower" without even a drop of blood as the Cold War was over after the collapse of the Soviet Union late in the 20th century.

Since the demise of the Cold War, the U.S. has persistently pursued the vicious policy of strength for the purpose of checking the appearance of any big power capable of matching it.

However, its moves for dominating the world and making the world unipolar further hardened the will of other big powers to keep the balance of the strategic muscle with the U.S. while accelerating the economic development.

Much upset by this, the U.S. is putting spurs to the projects for putting nuclear weapons and launching systems on a smaller, stealth and precision basis behind the curtain of the deceptive signboard of "denuclearization".

It is now busy developing five types of fresh nuclear warheads and their delivery means with huge financial support and mulling having access to bomber-launched long-range cruise missiles capable of striking targets after overcoming the enemy's missile defence system through long-distance flight.

Both Russia and China are channeling greater efforts into bolstering up strategic armed forces, paying attention to the fact that the U.S. is hell-bent on the moves for modernizing nuclear weapons while openly talking about the military containment of the regional powers.

Russia has already started the deployment of long-range ballistic missiles of the new generation tipped with four miniaturized nuclear warheads and is developing submarine nuclear striking means.

At the end of last year the commander of the Strategic Rocket Force of Russia said the new type strategic missile system accounted for 56 percent of the armed forces of Russia, openly declaring that in the light of analysis of the military information available, the U.S. cannot ward off its intensive attack.

China is surpassing the U.S. by far in developing the "ultra supersonic glider" capable of striking any target on the earth within an hour.

It conducted the test fire of new type ICBM Dongfeng-41 with the firing range of 15 000 km capable of striking the eastern part of the U.S. on April 12.

As seen above, the U.S. moves for modernizing nuclear weapons to dominate the world are becoming a boomerang, threatening the U.S. itself.

Shortly ago, the chief of Staff of the U.S. Army in his report on the combat capability of the U.S. forces made at a hearing of the Armed Services Committee of the Senate admitted that "in case the U.S. fights a war against the DPRK, China, Russia and other military powers at any moment, the U.S. forces' capability has not reached the desired level." His remarks reflect the U.S. unfavorable position.

The start of the nuclear arms race in the 21st century means the one of ruin of the U.S.

Had the U.S. not resorted to the moves for escalating tension in the world such as modernization of nuclear weapons to make the world unipolar, such words as the fresh Cold War and collapse of the American Empire would not have appeared.

The U.S. is bound to meet its final doom as it is hell-bent on realizing the anachronistic scenario for dominating the world.
