Christer Lundgren, chairman of the Sweden-Korea Friendship Association, Erik Anderson, member of the Executive Committee of the Communist Party in Sweden, and the international secretary of the Communist Party of Sweden and Oskar Molleby, chief of the Swedish Group for the Study of the Juche Idea, were elected co-chairmen of the preparatory committee.

The preparatory committee planned to organize colorful political and cultural events including a meeting on the occasion of the Seventh Congress of the WPK.
