DPRK Affected by Strong Low Pressure

| Pyongyang, May 5 (KCNA) -- Heavy rainfall and strong wind, caused by strong low pressure which passed through the northern part of the West Sea of Korea, hit the most parts of the west coastal area and Kangwon Province of the DPRK on May 2-4. The speed of wind registered 28 meters per second in Ryonggang County, Nampho City, 22 in Ryongyon County, South Hwanghae Province, 21 in Namyang Workers' District in Sukchon County, South Phyongan Province and 20 in Kumchon County, North Hwanghae Province. From 11:00 Monday to 5:00 Wednesday, it rained 125 mm, 124 mm, 116 mm, 113 mm, 111 mm and 117 mm in Sonchon, Tongchang, Uiju, Tongrim and Chonma counties and Sinuiju City of North Phyongan Province respectively, 113 mm in Sinphyong County, North Hwanghae Province and 111 mm in Haeju City, South Hwanghae Province. Meanwhile, tidal wave hit the coastal areas of North Hamgyong Province. |
