Pyongyang, May 6 (KCNA) -- The 7th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) began in Pyongyang, the capital city of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, today. National flags of the DPRK and flags of the WPK are fluttering in streets decked in gala attire. Seen in different parts of the city are placards and posters with letters "Seventh Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea", "The Great Party", "The Congress of Victors" and "We Will Always Follow the Marshal". Citizens are filled with emotion and delight with the Congress as an occasion. Ri Ho Chol, head of a workshop of the Pyongyang Thermal Power Complex, told KCNA: Upon receiving the decision of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee on convening the congress, we were very excited. In the 70-day campaign, we increased electricity output to greet the Congress with unprecedented labor achievement. We are sure that the 7th WPK's Congress held in the presence of supreme leader Kim Jong Un will serve as a landmark in further strengthening the WPK into the Party of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il and enhancing its leadership role. We will do our best to produce more electric power with loyalty. A series of innovations are reported from major industrial establishments and construction sites of Pyongyang, including the Kim Jong Suk Pyongyang Textile Mill, Kim Jong Thae Electric Locomotive Complex and the construction site of Ryomyong Street. |
