The statement said that it is the firm determination and will of Marshal Kim Jong Un to achieve the country's independent reunification true to the lifetime intention and behests of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il.

Kim Il Sung set national reunification as the greatest task and patriotic cause of the nation from the early days after the country's liberation and worked heart and soul to build a prosperous and reunified country by the concerted efforts of the Koreans in line with the common will and wishes of the nation.

During the last period of his revolutionary life, he made public the 10-point programme of the great unity of the whole nation for the reunification of the country and conducted energetic activities to rally the whole Korean nation as one force for reunification and personally initiated the north-south summit.

Kim Jong Il was the peerless patriot who ushered in a fresh era of independent reunification under the uplifted banner of Songun by successfully carrying forward the idea of Kim Il Sung for national reunification and his exploits.

He provided two north-south summits for the first time in the history of national division and adopted and made public the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration the keynote of which is the idea of By Our Nation Itself, thus ushering in the grandiose jubilant June 15 era of reunification.

Kim Jong Un unrolled a bright blueprint for national reunification by faithfully carrying forward and embodying the idea of national reunification and exploits performed by the great leaders all their lives. These are the most outstanding exploits performed by him in the efforts to accomplish the cause of national reunification.

The acute military tension is prevailing on the Korean peninsula owing to the U.S. and south Korean authorities' reckless political and military provocations and their constant nuclear threat. This is the factor of threatening the Koreans' existence and blocking their development and national reunification.

The U.S. should roll back its anachronistic and hostile policy toward the DPRK and the south Korean authorities should drop their daydream of "unifying the social systems" and respond to the desire and wishes of the compatriots for realizing the reunification by federal formula as agreed between the north and the south in the historic June 15 joint declaration.

The south Korean authorities should properly face up to the DPRK's firm will and sincere efforts to improve the inter-Korean relations and bring earlier the country's reunification, though belatedly, roll back their anachronistic policy of toeing the U.S. line and drop the silly idea of standing in confrontation with the fellow countrymen in the north.

They should totally stop the hostile acts against the DPRK such as the political and military provocations and war exercises and stop pursuing their sinister purpose any longer if they have true will to mend the north-south relations, and come out for dialogue and negotiations from a sincere and honest stand.

If the south Korean authorities shun the proposal made out of compatriotic good faith, prompted by the single intention to record a new history of reunifying the country and improving the north-south relations, not seeking confrontation between compatriots at the crossroads of deciding the future of the country and nation, they will leave indelible disgrace and crimes in the history of the nation.

All compatriots in the north and the south and abroad should fully display the spirit of national independence and might of the great national unity true to the patriotic intention of Kim Jong Un and turn out as one in the nationwide struggle for putting the earliest possible end to the tragedy which has lasted for the last several decades and building an independent, prosperous and reunified power.
