The troupe is a prestigious art organization playing a key role in developing the Juche-oriented dramatic art.

President Kim Il Sung founded the troupe on May 22, Juche 35 (1946) and clearly indicated the way to be followed by it in every period of the developing revolution and wisely led the theatrical artistes to create revolutionary dramas in line with thoughts and feelings and cultural and emotional requirements of the Korean people.

Leader Kim Jong Il who set forth important guidelines to be maintained to develop the Juche-oriented dramatic art ushered in a new era of its efflorescence by kindling the torch for creating "The Mountain Shrine"-style revolutionary dramas and working heart and soul to do so. He showed trust and love for the creators, artistes and employees of the troupe.

The troupe has recorded the brilliant pages in the history of developing the Juche-oriented dramatic art under the loving care and leadership of the party and the leader over the past 70 years since its founding.

A meeting took place at the National Theatrical Theatre on Saturday.

Present at the meeting were Choe Hwi, first vice department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Pak Chun Nam, minister of Culture, officials, creators, artistes, teachers and researchers in the fields of stage art including the above-said troupe and art education.
