Pyongyang, May 22 (KCNA) -- Helmi El Hadidi, chairperson of the Afro-Asian People's Solidarity Organization, made public a statement on May 16 in denunciation of the south Korean authorities' group allurement and abduction of DPRK's citizens. He said that the south Korean authorities let gangsters of the Intelligence Service lure and abduct a group of DPRK's citizens, adding that this was a flagrant infringement upon the DPRK's dignity and sovereignty, a grave political provocation inciting the confrontation and tension between the north and south and a hideous criminal act of mercilessly abusing human rights. He went on: Right after the case occurred, the DPRK bitterly denounced this crime and strongly demanded the south Korean authorities unconditionally and immediately send back the abductees and allow their parents to meet their daughters face to face in Seoul. Nevertheless, the south Korean authorities are repeating "voluntary defection," turning down the elementary humanitarian requests of the parents of the abductees and keeping them in solitary confinement to keep them away from any contact with outside. Their inhuman behavior is the unethical criminal act of denying the most elementary right stipulated in the World Declaration on Human Rights and the relevant international conventions on human rights. The Afro-Asian People's Solidarity Organization strongly urges the UN and the international human rights organizations to bear in mind how they deal with this case will be a touchstone discerning the truth about "protection and promotion of human rights" touted by them, to call into question the south Korean authorities' unethical crime and to take a relevant step to send the abductees of the DPRK back to the folds of their family members as soon as possible. |
